# Technical Implementation Summary: Payment Verification

## Overview

This document provides technical implementation details for the payment verification system that prevents orders from being marked as "delivered" without confirmed payment.

**Key Points:**
- Validation occurs **before** any database update
- Checks if: `order_status = 'delivered'` AND `payment_status != 'paid'`
- If condition true: Redirect with `error=payment_required` parameter
- Execution stops with `exit()` to prevent form submission

**Data Flow:**

**Functions:**
1. **`updateDeliveredState()`**
   - Called on: page load, payment status change
   - Gets: current payment and order status values
   - Does: disable/enable "delivered" option based on payment status
   - Sets: tooltip with explanation

2. **`validateFormSubmission(e)`**
   - Called on: form submit
   - Checks: if trying to set delivered without paid
   - Action: prevent submission, show alert, focus select
   - Returns: false if validation fails

3. **Event Listeners**
   - `paymentStatusSelect.addEventListener('change', ...)` - updates on payment change
   - `form.addEventListener('submit', ...)` - validates on form submit

4. **Initialization**
   - `updateDeliveredState()` - runs when page loads to set initial state

#### Modification A: Virtual Account Query (Lines 41-47)

**Display Logic:**
- Shows only if:
  - `$virtualAccount` exists (VA was created)
  - Order not cancelled
  - Payment status != 'paid' (still waiting for payment)
- Displays:
  - Large, highlighted VA number in red
  - Customer name
  - Copy button (uses existing `copyToClipboard()` function)
  - Contact support button via WhatsApp
  - Warning box with 24-hour payment deadline and instructions

#### Modification C: JavaScript Function

**Location:** Inside `<script>` tag, after `copyToClipboard()` function

## Validation Rules

### Server-Side Validation Rule

- For COD (Cash on Delivery) orders: May need to create separate logic

## Performance Considerations

1. **Database Queries:**
   - Minimal overhead: Single WHERE clause
   - Index on `orders.id` ensures fast lookup
   - VA query uses ORDER_ID foreign key

2. **JavaScript Execution:**
   - DOM query happens once on page load
   - Event listeners lightweight
   - No polling or AJAX calls

3. **Caching:**
   - No special caching needed
   - Browser cache normal
   - Each refresh gets current DB state

## Security Considerations

1. **SQL Injection:** 
   - ✅ Protected: PDO prepared statements used

2. **XSS (Cross-Site Scripting):**
   - ✅ Protected: `htmlspecialchars()` on all output

3. **Client-Side Bypass:**
   - ✅ Protected: Server-side validation is mandatory

4. **JavaScript Disabled:**
   - ✅ Protected: Server-side validation catches it
   - UX degraded but security maintained

## Deployment Checklist

If issues arise:

   - List orders awaiting payment

4. **COD Order Handling**
   - Create separate validation path for COD
   - Allow "delivered" marking without payment
